"We
were like two halves who lost each other and found each other again. It was beautiful! It was
like North and South Korea opened their borders and reunited, and people
prevented from seeing each other for years."
The more
impossible it seems to reunite the two aforementioned countries in the Far
East, the harder it is to reconcile the eternal differences between woman and
man.
This is the
premise of the latest production of the Figura Stúdió Színház Theatre, which is
based on the idea for the play by French playwright and actor Joël Pommerat.
Pommerat is a captivating figure of contemporary French theatre, actor,
director, artistic director of his own troupe working on improvisation. The
title of the play Reunification of the Two Koreas is more a metaphor for the
proposed subject, namely the multiplicity, complexity and, after all, the indissoluble
incompatibility of relations between women and men. The play is composed of
seemingly independent scenes, of which director Pálffy Tibor and dramaturg Deák
Katalin have chosen to present ten. These scenes are each a case study of
different situations of love relationships, and are linked into an artistic
unity by music composed by Boros Csaba and choreography by Bezsán Noémi. The
performance offers a unique French atmosphere through the visual setting
designed by Gábor Zsófia.
The premiere is
scheduled to take place on 12 May 2023, at 19.00 in the Theatre's newly
inaugurated Foundry Studio (Bulevardul Fratiei 23).
