On 21 September theatres
celebrate the Hungarian Drama Day – in
memory of the first premiere of The Tragedy of Man in 1883 in the National
Theatre, Budapest. The production, named Café Stories come from this era, which
will be on program tonight from 7 pm in the Studio Hall.
The performance made of the
personal narratives of well-known Hungarian writers and artists of the second
half of the 19th century was presented by the ten-year-old Szín-kron
Group’s young actors guiding by Kolozsi Borsos Gábor.
Igmándi Mihály, originally a clerk
in his main occupation, published his poems in several 19th century
journals. The Hungarian Intellectual Life. Stories and drawings from the
lives of Hungarian writers and artists appeared in 1892 on his initiative
and in his editing, in which well-known artists shared stories about their
profession and even about their private lives.
In the nostalgic evening
interwoven with jazz songs the young generation tells stories about famous
writers and actors’ successes, failures, playwrights and vocation. Along the
stories is drawn an age-picture and artistic attitude, from which “little will
be good even now, because there is a lot of chat now.”
Tickets are available on the www.biletmaster.ro and in the tickets’ office
on weekdays between 3 and 7 pm. The Café Stories will be on program in place of
the outdoor Tót Family. The bought tickets can be used for our other plays in
September or can be switched back until the first of October.
